Showa Oosaka.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saki)This sword Gassan Sadakatsu belongs to Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished by good polisher.
Habaki :Gold foiled double habaki with family crest.
Blade length : 64.0 cm or 25.19 inches.
Sori : 1.0cm or 0.39 inches.
Mekugi :1  
Width at the hamachi :2.49cm or 0.98 inches.
Width at the Kissaki :1.58cm or 0.62 inches.
Kasane : 0.57cm or 0.22 inches.
Era : Showa 6. (March 1931)
Shape The blade is regular size with longer kissaki nice shape.
Jigane:Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach and small chikei work.
Hamon:Nie deki gunome midare with ashi and sunagashi work.
middle part to the Kissaki, niedeki active sosyu style hamon and double hamon mixed.

Special feature : Gassan Sadakatsu was born as the second son of the First Gassan Sadakazu in 1869.
Sadakatsu was a representative swordsmith of Taisho to early Showa era.
He was an amazing swordsmith to make all of Soshu-den, Bizen-den and Yamato-den.
Especially his distinctive Ayasugi-hada inherits the tradition
that has been continued from the Kamakura period still lives on in gendai swordsmiths.
Under his famous father Sadakazu the First, Sadakatsu forged only a few swords inscribed
his swordsmith name until the death of Sadakazu in the late Taisho era.
This katana has excellent hori which expressed the morning glory wild cherry blossom.
There is kikusuri hori at the tang with very rare star shape stamped on. It is a master piece of
Gassan Sadakatsu. He has passed away at the same year this sword was made.

Koshirae:  Tachi Koshirae.
Saya:unusual saya.
Menuki:Dokko and Kabuto are engraved by brass with gold color.
Fuchikashira:Syokudo ishimeji.
Tsuba:on the round shape iron Tsuba, engrave wood pattern.
