Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (Mukansa Tosyo)

Signature : To-to Jyu Yaguwa Yasutake Kinsaku No
Syowa 57 Nen 5 Gatsu Kichijitsu.
Explanation : The blade was made by Mukansa sword smth Yaguwa Yasutake at 1982.

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Yaguwa Yasutake belongs to Jyo ranking.

The blade was polished
Blade length : 79.7 cm or 3.1.4 inches.
Sori : 2.0 cm or 0.8 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.15 cm or 1.24 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.31 cm or 0.91 inches.
Kasane : 0.7 cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : Showa period
Shape : Long, wide and thick, 2 Hi in both side of the blade. Deep Sori and long Kissaki, very health blade.
Jitetsu : Well grained Koitame-hada with Jinie. Beautiful.
Hamon : Nie-deki Gonome midare and Choji midare mixed with long Ashi, Boshi is midarekomi style.

Special feature : Yasutake was born in Yamagata pref.
In 1909 is known as a Yasukuni sword smith who was a pupil of Ikeda Ikko.
Yasutake entered the Nihon-to Tanren Kai in1935.
After the Second world war, he resumed forging sword in 1954.
In 1970, Yasutake and Sakai Hiroshi forged a collaboration tanto for a centenary of the Yasukuni Shrine.
In 1973, Yasutake forged a tachi to dedicate the Ise shrine.
In 1981, he finally became a Mukansa-tosho. He passed away in 1983.
Yasutake fogred this splendid katana in the postwar Japan accepting a custom order based on his excellent technique improved as a Yasukuni-tosho.
This sword is very long and wide and thick with double hi are engraved on both sides of the blade.
The blade is very healthy without Kizu and flow.
Recently it is rather difficult to buy Mukansa sword maker.

Koshirae : Using fitting of Edo era.
Tsuba : Round iron tsuba chrysanthemum engraved. Mei : Choshu Ogi ju Kawajirokuroemon
Fuchikashira : Dragon engraved on Iron plate, colored with gold.
Saya : Russet colored
Menuki : Oar shape engraved on iron.
Historical background : Showa 57(AD1982) May, Toyota collora release.
