Tanto: Mumei (Soshu Masahiro)

Tanto in Shirasaya(NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei(unsigned) atttributed as Soshu Masahiro.

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki:solid gold double habaki.
Blade length : 27.0 cm or 10.62 inches.
Sori : 0.3cm or 0.11 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.64 cm or 1.03 inches.
Kasane : 0.4cm or 0.15 inches.
Era : Late Nanbokucyo period Minitoku era.1390.
Shape : The blade is rather wide and thin mitumine style without sori which is typical Nanbokucyo style.
Jitetsu :Itame had well grained with jinie attach and much chikei work.
Hamon : Niedeki Hitatsura hamon with a lot of activities Sunagashi and Kinsuji. Boshi is active midarekomi style.

Special feature : Sosyu Masahiro lived Odawara and made active Hitatura sosyu style which was produced from Akihiro and Hiromitsu.
This Hamon looks Hiromitsu Hitatsura hamon which is very active wonderful subject. The blade was polishe one of the top ranking polisher. Inside of the hamon, there is small kiss but not serious.
The sword is equal to the Jyuyo token class wonderful sword.
TheHabaki is solid gold double habaki.
back ground history. Nancyo side Tenno hand 3 kind of treasure to Hokucyo side Tenno(royal emperor) and governed Royal family.
This Tanto is very good quality and recommend to buy.
