Wakizashi: Higo Daijyo Fujiwara Shimosaka

Wakizashi in Shirasaya (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature: Higo Daijyo Fujiwara Shimosaka.

Echizen Kuni. Shinto: jojo saku: Echizen province.
The blade was polished.
Habaki:gold and silver foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 38.48 cm or 15.14 inches.
Sori : 0.61 cm or 0.24 inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.93 cm or 1.15 inches.
Kasane : 0.58 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era :Early Edo. period.
Shape : The blade is rather wide and thick mitsumune style sakizori Hirauchi wakizashi.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained masanagare with jinie attach
and chikei work blackish and visible to see the texture.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midare with ashi, and yo work.

Special feature : Higo Daijyo Fujiwara Shimosaka was said Yasutsugu but several sword makers like Sadakuni, Masakatsu,Kanenori and Kuninaga also admitted as Higo Daijyo Shimosaka.
Probably The head master was Yasutusugu and several sword makers asked to make signature on the tang of the blade to special Meikirishi(the craftsman for making signature)
hamon is similar to Sadakuni I think.
This blade is wide and thick healthy blade with nice Jigane.
It is a mystery-shrouded who made this sword Yasutsugu or Sadakuni but the blade itself
jyojyo saki high ranking sword. The signature is very attractive and nice.
