Wakizashi in Shirasaya (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Mumei (Den Enju)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Mumei (Den Enju) belongs to Jo-jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 52.6 cm or 20.70 inches.
Sori : 1.8 cm or 0.70 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.73 cm or 1.07 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.73 cm or 0.68 inches.
Kasane : 0.60 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Late Kamakura period.
Shape : The blade is regular size thickness and width.
There are Bo-Hi and Soe-Hi on both side.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attached.
Utsuri is appearing.
Hamon : Nie Deki Suguha. Boshi is round shape.

Special feature : The Enju School in Higo province is famous as a supplier of sword
for the Kikuchi family that was a loyal retainer of a divided Emperor family in the Namboku-cho period.
The founder of Enju School Kunimura was a pupil of Rai Kunitoshi in Yamashiro province.
The School had prospered following the Kikuchi family and came to an end in the Age of Provincial Wars.
This blade is beautiful Jigane and nice shape.
There are a small flaw on middle part. But it is inconspicuous.
The blackish Jigane is very appealing and well grained typical Rai school jigane.
We recommend this late Kamakura sword.
