Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae

Signature : Mumei (Kanetoki)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 54.0 cm or 21.25 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.12 cm or 1.22 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.23 cm or 0.87 inches.
Kasane : 0.74 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : Wide and thick Wakizashi.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. There are Shirake-Utsuri.
Hamon : Ko-Niedeki, Suguha. There are Ko-Ashi.

Special feature : From the shape and Jitetsu, we think that this Wakizashi was made by Kanetoki.
There are some swordsmiths who engraved signature Kanetoki, from early Muromachi period to ealry Edo period.
This Wakizashi has nice Koshirae.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Iron Tsuba, paper door and chrysanthemum are engraved with gold color.
The rim is covered by gold and silver.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo nanako, flowers are engraved with gold color.
Saya : Black roior Saya.
Menuki : Shakudo, abalone is engraved with gold color.
