Wakizashi in Shirasaya

Signature : Mumei (Mihara school)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Silver single Habaki.
Blade length : 54.8 cm or inches.
Sori : 1.0 cm or inches.
Mekugi :  2
Width at the hamachi : 2.90 cm or inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.98 cm or inches.
Kasane : 0.64 cm or inches.
Era : Early Muromachi period.
Shape : Wide and rather thick Osuriage Mumei Wakizashi.
Jigane : The mixture of Itame Hada and Mokume Hada with jinie attach.
There are Shirake Utsuri. Shinogi is high and wide.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Suguha with Nezumi Ashi. Boshi is round Hakikake shape.

Special feature : Mihara school floursished in Bingo Mihara province.
The group of Kamakura period to Nanbokucho period was called Ko-Mihara.
The group of early Muromachi to Middle Muromachi period was called Mihara.
The group of middle Muromachi to late Muromachi period was called Sue-Mihara.
This blade was made around early Muromachi period(1400).
The Mihara schoole made Suguha blade. There is only few signature's blade.
This blade has the calm Suguha and nice Utsuri. The Kissaki is Hakikake.
This is typical Mihara blade.
