Wakizashi : Mumei (Shinto Jumyo)

Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Mumei (Shinto Jumyo)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Mumei (Shinto Jumyo) belongs to Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 52.5 cm or 20.66 inches.
Sori : 1.0 cm or 0.39 inches.
Mekugi : 3(2 filled)
Width at the hamachi : 2.87 cm or 1.12 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.15 cm or 0.84 inches.
Kasane : 0.77 cm or 0.30 inches.
Era : Edo period, around Kanei era.
Shape : Regular size, Suriage Machiokuri Katana.
There are Koshi-Hi and Futasuji-Hi on both side.
Jitetsu : Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. The hada pattern is well seen.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Togari Gunome Midare with Ashi.
Boshi is Midarekomi Hakikake style.

Special feature : It is said that the First Jumyo moved from Yamato province
to Mino province in the last Kamakura period.
The workmanship was influenced by both provinces.
The name Jumyo(longlife) has been thought as a very auspicious
for longevity and used for gift.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape iron Tsuba, dragon? is engraved.
Fuchi: Shakudo Nanako, chrysanthemum is engraved with gold color.
Kashira : black horn.
Saya : Black roiro Saya.
Menuki : Shakudo, some design is engraved with gold color.
Kozuka : Shakudo, Aoi flower is engraved with gold color.
