Wakizashi: Mumei (Sue Tegai)

Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae.(NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei (Sue Tegai)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword Mumei Sue Tegai belongs to Jyo-Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki :Gold failed single habaki.
Blade length : 53.5 cm or 21.06 inches.
Sori : 0.5 cm or 0.19 inches.
Mekugi :  1
Width at the hamachi : 2.78cm or 1.09 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.08cm or 0.81 inches.
Kasane : 0.6 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Early Muromachi oeriod.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened).
The blade is regular style with deeper sori nice looking shape.
Jigane :Itame hada wekk grained with jinie attach with chikei work.
Hamon :Niedeki suguha with double han¥mon and Uchinoke.
Boshi is round shape hakikake.

Special feature:Sue tegai is a stream of the Tegai school
which was founded by Kanenaga.
This sword was judged as Sue tegai school shich is early Muromachi period by NBTHK. But I think the blade looks late Nanbokucyo period.

Koshirae :
Saya :black roiro saya.
Tsuba :On the round shape iron tsuba, grape leaves are engraved .
Menuki : Samurai designe is engraved by syakudo plate.
Fuchikashira:Ont eh iron plate, Thander god is engraved.
Kozuka:On the syakudo plate, a shishi dod is engraved.
