Wakizashi in Shirasaya (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Soshu Ju Tsunahiro

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saki)This sword belongs to Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki : gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 40.0 cm or 15.74 inches.
Sori : 0.8 cm or 0.31 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.22 cm or 1.26 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Late Murokachi period.
Shape: Mitsumune, wide and thick Hirauchi Wakizashi.
Hamon: Nie Deki, Hitatsura Hamon with deep Nioikuchi.
Typical Soshu den Hamon.

Special feature : Tsunahiro has moved to Sagami Province at late Muromachi period
and became active sword smith.
This sword smith group has lasted until Shin Shinto period.
Especially, Soshu Jyu Tsunahiro was famous for the Hitatsura hamon.
This blade was made around late Muromachi period.
It is difficult to judge the generation. The blade is typical Tsunahiro and masterpiece.
