Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon Paper)
Signature: Toto Omi no kami Fujiwara Tsunehira（Sixth Generation)
Habaki: Gold single foiled habaki.
Blade length : 47.6cm or 18.75inches.
Sori : 1.0cm or 0.39inches.
Width at the hamachi : 2.7cm or 1.06inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.7cm or 0.67inches.
Kasane : 0.63cm or 0.25inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : The width and thickness is regular size with slight sori.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : The hamachi area is suguha but the hamon gradually
becomes notare gonome with deep nioikuchi.
There are active sunagashi and kinsuji streaks. At first glance,
this piece reminds of Kanewaka. The boshi is brush up pattern.
Special feature : Touto Ju Fujiwara Tsunehira is a swordsmith
successful during middle of Edo period.
The first generation has moved from Echizen to Edo
and become a student of Yasutsugu. He was called
Fujita Yoshiro. This katana is famous for Ougon kitae(golden kite).
Tsuba : Round shape iron tsuba with some kind of pattern
engraved around the rim. There are delicate dragon open work engraved. It is Nanban tsuba.
Fuchikashira :Fuchi-Shakudou nanakoji with family crest engraved. Kashira- Tsuno
Saya : Black roiro saya.. There are sparkles of Aogaichirashi(mother of pearl) at the top part.
Menuki : Bronze base with lobster engraved.
