Katana : Hizen Jyu Minamoto Munetsugu Kitae No Tamesu Ware Tetsukabuto Nidai/Tenwa 2nd year Mizunoeinu 8 Gatsuhi.

Katana in Shirasaya (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature : Hizen Jyu Minamoto Munetsugu Kitae No Tamesu Ware Tetsukabuto Nidai(second generation).
Tenwa 2nd year Mizunoeinu 8 Gatsuhi.

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki : Gold double foiled habaki
Blade length : 70 cm or 27.55 inches.
Sori : 2.25 cm or 0.88 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.20 cm or 1.25 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.16 cm or 0.85 inches.
Kasane : 0.80 cm or 0.31 inches.
Era : Edo period Tenna.
Shape : It is wide and thick katana. Bohi is engraved deeply at both sides.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached, It is clear hada.
Hamon : NIe structure gunome midare sword with ups and downs on the ha.
Ashi and yo work is actively and so as the sunagashi and kinsuji works. Boushi is midare komi style.

Special feature : Hizen Jyu MInamoto Munetsugu is a swordsmith of Hizen province and this second generation has been successful after taking over first generation Munetsugu.
You will find pieces that has cutting test with kabuto.
The signature says that the the katana was forged and has done cutting test and there is also signature engraved on the backside.
His confidence and passion. The hamon is rustic and intense soshu style.
It is similar to Shigetaka piece.
