Katana : Zuisen Horii Toshihide/Showa 13 Nen Tora 2gatsu kichijitsu

Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Zuisen Horii Toshihide.
Showa 13 Nen Tora 2gatsu kichijitsu.

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 69.7 cm or 27.5 inches.
Sori : 1.9 cm or 0.75 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.12 cm or 1.22 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.91 cm or 0.75 inches.
Kasane 0.82 cm or 0.32 inches.
Era : Syowa period Before war time (1937)
Shape : The blade is wide and thick with longer kissaki nice looking shape.
Jitetsu : Koitame and komokume had mixed with jinie attach.
Hamon : Konie deck and nioideki mixed Gunome Cyoji midair with a lot of ash.

Special feature : Horii Toshihide was born at Shiga prefecture Meiji 19th(1886) and
at Meiji 37th, he studied under Horii Taneaki.
He changed hos name to Hideaki and worked at Nihon Seikan Muroran industry and made many swords.
At that company, he can use nice top class iron(Tamahagane) as possible as he can.
He and the company had communicated with Imperial Household Ministry and made for imperial household.
Also Japanese marcial. He was one of the top ranking sword makers in Syowa period.
Probably he could use top quality Tamahagane at that place and could make nice Jigane.
This sword is typical Bizen school Hamon.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the iron tsuba, leaf and vine is inlayed with gold, and some design is endraved.
Fuchikashira : Shakudou base with leaf and vine design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Black Roiro saya.
Menuki : Shakudou base with flower design engraved.
