Tanto: Mumei (unsigned) attributed as Oishisa

Tanto in Shirasaya

Signature :Mumei(Oishisa) NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Paper

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Mumei OIshisa belongs to Jyojyosaku ranking.

The blade was polished by high rank polisher.
Blade length : 28.5cm or 11.22inches.
Sori : 0.4cm or 0.15inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.63cm or  1.03inches.
Kasane : 0.53cm or 0.21inches.
Era : Late Nanbokucho period.
Shape : It is Mitsumune style regular width and thickness. There is double hi on the front side. There is Gomabashi(chopstick shape groove) engraved. It is nice shape tanto.
Jitetsu :The Jigane is well grained with mixture of Koitame hada and mokume hada. JInie is attached. It is wonderful jigane.
Hamon : Nie deki with deep nioiguchi. Ashi is well attached. Kinsuji work is appearing. Boshi is roudnd turn back.

Special feature : The sword is attributed as Oishisa.
Samonji sword derives from smithes engraving the letter 左-Sa- on the tang in late Nanbokucho period. It is also called 大左-Oosa-
Hense, the sword smith group that moved to Hizen is called Hirado Sa and the sword smith group moved to Chikugo is called Oishisa.
The name Oishisa is said to come from the place name Oishi in Chikugo province.
The jigane is absolutely gorgeous. There is refined chikei work and kinsuji work appearing in the ha.
There is a station called Chikugo Oishi toda in Ukiha City Fukuoka prefecture.
