Tanto in Koshirae

Signature:Mumei (Yokoyama Sukekane)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 21.8 cm or 8.59inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.04 cm or 0.8 inches.
Kasane : 0.94 cm or 0.37 inches.
Era : Edo period.
Shape : It is regular size width.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is close to mujihada.
Hamon : NIoi base with mixture of gorgeous gunome choji. Ashi and ha is well seen.Boushi is round ended.

Special feature : Bizen Osafune Ju Yokoyama Sukekane became adopted child of Yokoyama Sukemori and named Shunkichi.
After that he became a student of Yokoyama Sukenaga.
His master cut the name on the tang Tomonari 56 and Sukekane named on the tang 58 dai Mago.
This Sukekane tanto shows typical characteristic of Yokoyama Sukekane.
This piece has excellent burn of choji and nioi mixture. It is very rare thick Yoroidoshi.

Koshirae : It is issaku Koshirae which the fuchigashira, tsuba, kojiri is all iron tsuna.
Tsuba : Iron mokko shape tsuba.
Fuchigashira : Iron base with bonji engraved.
Kojiri : Iron tsuba
Kurigata : Iron tsuba
Menuki : Suaka base bee design engraved.
This koshirae is magnificent shape. Very rare piece.
