Tanto : Sukemasa (Kaga sirou)

Tanto in Shirasaya, with Koshirae. (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicyo Token.)

Signature : Sukemasa(Kaga sirou)

Sue koto:Cyujyo saku ranking:Izumi province. (from Fujishiro Toko jiten.)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku).
This Tanto Sukemasa belongs to Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished.
Babaki : Silver single.
Blade length : 20.15 cm or 7.93 inches.
Sori : No Sori
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 1.95 cm or 0.76 inches.
Kasane : 0.62 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period. 1504(511years ago)
Shape : The Tanto is small size Mitumune style nice looking shape.
Jitetsu : Koitame had well grained with jinie attach beautiful texture.
Hamon : Niedeki togari gunome midare and boshi is brush up round shape and long Yakisage style.

Special feature : According to the books, Sukemasa ,started from ealy Muromachi period to late Muromachi.
This Tanto's nakago is long and nice Jigane, the blade was made around Eisyo era I think.
The jigane is beautiful texture, so we recommend this Tanto for celebrating Yomeiri (marriage tanto).
We Japanese high ranking family used to handed over a Tanto to their daughter when she gets married.
She keeps her best for her husband and family and please determine on death for her life.
The blade is mitumune style healthy nice tanto.
