Wakizashi : Higo kami Kuniyasu

Wakizashi in Shirasaya (NBTHK Hozon paper)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword Higo no kami Kuniyasu belongs to Saijyosaku ranking.

Shinto : Jyosaku : Owazamono : Settsu
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Silver single habaki.
Blade length : 51.2 cm or 20.15 inches.
Sori : 1.0 cm or 0.39 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.12 cm or 1.22 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.31 cm or 0.90 inches.
Kasane : 0.79 cm or 0.31 inches.
Era : Edo period around Kanbun era.
Shape : It is wide and thick solid wakizashi.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is clear hada.
Hamon : It is starting from suguha and gradually becomingj strong gunome midare with mixture of choji midare.
The hamon reaches the shinogi area. It is full of sunagashi and kinsuji activities.

Special feature : Higo no kami Kuniyasu was called Kobayashi Mimamoto Zaemon and was the third son of first generation Kawachi Kami Kunisuke.
His older brother was called Nakakawachi (Naka literally means in the middle. ).
This work is rustic with much ups and down in the ha.
There is deeo gunome midare with mixture of choji midare.
The nakago area is little rough but it is a masterpiece hamon.
