Wakizashi: Noushu Seki Ju Kanemoto

Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicyo paper)

Kyoroku 3nen 2 gatsu hi (February 1530)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 50.2cm or 19.76inches.
Sori : 1.1cm or 0.43inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.06cm or 0.81inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.78cm or 0.7inches.
Kasane : 0.54cm or 0.21inches.
Era : Muromachi period.
Shape : Ubu nakago with signature. It is regular width and thickness.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with jini attachhed. It is strong jigane.
Hamon : Nioi structure sharp gunome hamon
with some sunagashi streaks appearing. There is chikei works.

Special feature : Kanemoto and Kanesada are praised as the two master swordsmiths
representing Sue-Seki School. There are several opinions about Kanemoto's origin.
It is said he was an Akasaka-Senjuin swordsmith influenced by Seki School.
From ancient times famous warriors bore Kanesada because of sharpness.
NBTHK judged this Wakizashi as Magoroku-Kanemoto on the Tokubetsu-hozon paper.

Koshirae :
Tsuba :It is thin iron tsuba that reminds of Inshu Suruga tsuba.
Fuchikashira :Shibuichi plate with red autumn leaves engraved and inlayed with gold, silver and copper.
Saya : Kairaki skin saya. It is in nice condition.
Menuki : Copper plate with theme of carp swimming.
