Wakizashi : Yoshisuke(shimada school)

Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature:Yoshisuke(shimada school) 2nd generation.

The blade was polished.
Habaki:Gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 31.2 cm or 12.28 inches.
Sori : 0.4 cm or 0.15 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi :2.54 cm or 1 inches.
Kasane : 0.55 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : late Muromachi period Kouji era.
Shape : The blade is regular size Mitumune style sakizori sunnobi Tanto.
On the blade, omoteside, Bohi and Suken are engraved and on the back side, Kaen hudo is engraved.
On the surface, the hormone is small perished but the face and others are good condition.
Jitetsu : Itame had and Mokume had mixed with Jinie attach nice texture. On the ji, shirake utsuri appear.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha.

Special feature : The founder of the Yoshisuke studied Sosyu den from Sosyu Tsunahiro or other sosyu sword makers.
Hirosuke, Sukemune are also well known sue-Sosyu school sword makers.
I think this Shimada Yoshisuke must be 2nd generation Yoshisuke from the signature.
On this sword, a nice deep engraving of Kaen Fudo(god).
some parts are perished but the face is perfect condition.
The blade is added Sosyu den influenced in the suguha hamon.

Historical background: 1557ouji 3rd Kawanakajima battle 3rd time between Takeda shingen and Uesugi Kenshin.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the iron hamidashi Tsuba, some flower are inlayed by brass plate.
Fuchikashira : On the syakudo nanako plate, floors are engraved with gold color.
Saya : On the dark brown ishimeji saya, black tapes(Black Urushi) are painted by Urushi.
Menuki : A goat is engraved by solid gold.
Kozuka : On the iron plate, some flowers are engraved with gold color.
Kogatana : Suishinshi Masahide(Not reliable)
