Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae. (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature : mumei (unsigned) attributed as Unju

The blade was polished
Blade length : 70.8 cm or 27.87 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.75 cm or 1.08 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.87 cm or 1.12 inches.
Kasane : 0.67 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Nanbokucho Period
Shape : It is O-Suriage mumei.
There is double hi engraved and at the back side bo-hi is engraved
and the kissaki is long end. It is nice shape katana.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame hada with mixture of mokume hada.
JInie is well attached. Fine chikei is attached and on the ji there is clear utsuri seen.
Hamon : Konie structure in suguha style. There are Ko-Ashi and Yo.
Boshi is Sansaku style.

Special feature : Unjyu was working from late Kamakura period to Nanbokucyo period.
At that place, Unsyo, Unji, and Unjyu were well known sword maker which is called Ugai school or Unrui.
The style is slightly different to neighboring Aoe and Bizen. Unsho has nature of Aoe and many works in Ha.
This blade is Suguha base with many Ko-Ashi and healthy.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape iron Tsuba, chrysanthemum is engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo nanako, chrysanthemum is engraved with gold color.
Saya : Black roiro Saya.
Menuki : Shakudo,chrysanthemum is engraved with gold color.
Kogai: Shakudo Nanako, chrysanthemum is engraved with gold color.
