Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature : Kawachi Kami Kunishige (2nd Generation)

Shinto:Jyosaku :Wazamono cutting test ranking:Settsu.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This 2nd generation Kawachi Kami Kunisuke belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 49.54cm or 19.5inches.
Sori : 1.54cm or 0.61inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.08cm or 1.21inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.38cm or 0.94inches.
Kasane : 0.74cm or 0.29inches.
Era : Edo period Kanbun.
Shape : It is wide and thick with slight Sori. It is shape of Kanbun Shinto.
Nice and thick item.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is clear Osaka Jigane.
Hamon : From the Hamachi it is suguha. It is gunome midare with mixture of Choji midare.
There are sunagashi and boshi round end.

Special feature : First generation Kawachi kami Kunisuke has studied with Izumi Kami Kunisuke under Kunihiro.
Because he is in middle of the first and second generation, he is often called "Naka(middle)-Kawachi "
He is famous for the Kobushi Choji midare hamon and the unique hamon which was popular at the time.
It is gorgeous Ken Choji Hamon with much ups and down. It was during the age
when the sword demand was diminishing so many sword smith worked hard to make original work
and become the top of the trend and sell many swords.
He has died in Genroku 11th year August 21st.
This piece is strong shape with gorgeous Ken Choji midare.
There is no flaws and is excellent work.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape iron tsuba with stand up rim. Late Edo Period Wakashiba.
Fuchikashira :Shakudo plate with wave design engraved. Kashira:Tsuno
Saya : Black Ishimeji saya
Menuki : Flower design with gold inlay.
Kozuka : Shakudo nanakoji plate with fishing tool and bird engraved and inlaid with copper.
The rod and string is drawn.
Kogatana :

NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper.
